Baraka was a live plant exhibition that encouraged visitors to understand how everyday life depends on plants. A collaboration between UCL Qatar and Qur’anic Botanic Gardens, it highlighted plants mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammed PBUH). Working within a team of Museum and Gallery Practice students, I covered two roles: a Graphic Designer and an Education & Community Engagement Officer.
  • Graphic design – typesetting large information panels, signage and small exhibit labels; illustrations for different aspects of the exhibition (reward stickers, warning labels, signage etc.)
  • Edu. & Comm. Engagement Officer – research and produce permanent interactive zones for the exhibition, activities like the reflective Message Tree, a Scavenger Hunt, and weekend activities like a DIY Family Activity and Community Planting.
  • The interactive zones encouraged visitors to use all 5 senses to engage with exhibits for a multi-sensory learning experience.
  • The Message tree encouraged visitors to reflect on their experience and leave a mark in the space.
