Inspired by themed cafés around the world, I developed a visual brand and proposal for a café called OnEdge, where the concept is to make people feel slightly uncomfortable. I went from crazy ideas of see-saw chairs to more subtle changes on regular objects; tilted pockets, words that are cut off, boxes that look that they’ll tip over. I went from wanting to frustrate customers to creating just enough of an imbalance that it made them uncomfortable. Finding the balance between too complex and impractical, and not uncomfortable enough was the challenge.

Through the process, I developed print, 3D work, and a display to pitch my concept. Innovating the unusual packaging and menu was the most fulfilling as they were complicated, while also being some of the more effective outcomes.
